Our Roots

partnership you can feel

partnership you can feel

Our roots trace back more than four decades, when Tom Gruber established a reputation for craftsmanship, discipline, and deep respect for the building process. That foundation shaped a culture defined by trust, collaboration, and enduring quality.

In 2024, Preston Miller acquired the company, carrying that legacy forward while guiding it into a new chapter. Today, as Fellow, we continue to pursue architecturally ambitious work — grounded in partnership, technical rigor, and ambition without ego.

We believe custom homes have the power to shape daily life in meaningful ways. Each project begins with listening and unfolds through close collaboration with architects and homeowners. Through disciplined planning, transparent communication, and thoughtful execution, we bring architecture to life with clarity and care.

No two homes are the same. Each reflects the vision behind it, the land it rests on, and the people who will inhabit it. Our work is driven by joy in the craft, curiosity in the details, and a commitment to building spaces that endure — homes built together, for how you really live.

Our Core Principles

Grounded by principle

01 /

BUILD FOR JOY

For us, joy isn’t about ease or spectacle; it’s about the fulfillment found in progress, problem-solving, and seeing ideas take physical form. This joy shows up in how we work: an eagerness to be hands-on, a respect for craft, and a deep appreciation for the moments when a space begins to feel real. It reinforces our belief that the best work happens when builders are invested not just in outcomes, but in the experience of building itself.

LEAD WITH AMBITION

We vow to pursue ambition with everything we do. To us, ambition reflects an uncompromising drive for excellence and a refusal to settle for the expected. It’s rooted in the belief that great work demands intention, rigor, and people who deeply understand and stay committed the craft at all costs.

CHASE THE BUTTERFLY

A butterfly represents curiosity and wonder. As master craftsmen, we chase the it-moment, the moment something unexpected captures your attention. These butterfly moments encourage you to pause, look closer, and feel a genuine sense of amazement; an emotional response that is immediate, visceral, and lasting. Every project we tackle has a way of revealing itself over time. At first glance our homes can appear effortless, but look closer and layers of thought, craft, and technical rigor will begin to unfold. It is this unusual layering that separates us and leaves people asking how specific details were achieved. Our architect partners depend on our relentless pursuit of craft and, which is how the complete story comes to life - through every beautifully executed detail.

Digital Construction

Digital construction

We digitally document every project from early construction through completion — creating clarity for architects, confidence for owners, and a reliable record of what’s actually built.

Clarity Before Construction Begins.

We create a living 3D record of your project from demo through completion. Owners stay connected, architects stay informed, and every decision is grounded in real-time jobsite context — not assumptions.

Faster Installs,
Fewer Conflicts.

Regular 3D scans create a visual timeline of construction — helping teams coordinate faster, make informed decisions, and avoid surprises as the project evolves.

Permanent Records. At Your Fingertips.

Common Questions

FAQ

How long does it take to build a custom home in Denver?

Timelines vary based on design complexity, permitting, site conditions, and material lead times. As a general range, many custom homes in Denver take 12–20+ months from breaking ground to completion, with additional time for design and permitting before that. During preconstruction, we build a project-specific schedule and update it throughout construction so you always know what’s next, what decisions are coming, and where risks to the timeline exist.

What’s included in your Preconstruction process?

Preconstruction is where we set the project up to run well. For most custom homes, our preconstruction work includes budget development, scope clarification, schedule planning, trade partner input, constructability reviews, and early identification of major cost drivers (sitework, structure, windows/doors, mechanical systems, exterior assemblies). The goal is to reduce surprises and create a realistic plan before construction starts. If you’re comparing builders in Denver, ask how they handle preconstruction—this phase is often the difference between a smooth build and a stressful one.
